The Area around Almunecar & Costa Tropical
In contrast to the neighbouring Costa del Sol this area is relatively unspoilt and Spanish in character. You are more likely to be offered a free Tapas (snack) with your drink, than an all-day English breakfast! Prices for eating out are also very reasonable.
Recent road improvements now mean it is only an hours drive from Malaga & Granada airports.
This stretch of coastline takes its name from its sub-tropical climate, which allows the cultivation of exotic fruits and crops such as avocados, mangos, bananas and sugar cane.
It is a very diverse Costa, with the 11,000 foot high Sierra Nevada mountains to the north shielding the coast from the worst weather.
